The AIBUMA conference aims at providing a forum for disciplinary and interdisciplinary communications, where researchers (in Social and Natural Sciences, as well as in Engineering), intellectuals, policy/decision makers and Consultants would share the results of their research, studies and thoughts, with regards to societies and private/public organizations.
This is an annual event that began in 2010 and is organized and hosted by the School of Business, University of Nairobi.
The conference seeks to;
• Showcase research as well as provide a forum for collaboration and fusion with business leadership practice. • Plug into the global business thinking by engaging in activities that elevate her visibility in the global arena.
The overriding theme for this year's conference is:
"Embracing the Changing Face and Pace of Business and Management".

The idea of the conference is to discuss how to solve business problems or take advantage of new opportunities from various business and management disciplinary areas such as finance, ICT, management, marketing, operations management, human resource management, international business practices, and business administration. All papers will be directed to the appropriate theme and/or track. All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings.

CONFERENCE THEME
The broad main aim of this conference, AIBUMA 2012, is to provide an
international platform for academic, business professional and
government officials from all over the world to come together to
exchange ideas on applying global business and management. The AIBUMA 2012 Committee has settled on the theme of: "Embracing the Changing Face and Pace of Business and Management". This was borne out of the fact that economies are currently emerging from the global financial crunch and it behooves businesses to rethink and adopt innovative practices.

Bob Collymore
C.E.O SafaricomBob is the CEO of Safaricom Limited, one of the leading integrated communications companies in Africa. He assumed the position on November 1st 2010. The company reported Sh18.36 billion pretax profit for the financial year ending March 31st 2011.
Prior to joining Safaricom, Bob was the Chief Officer for Corporate Affairs in Vodacom Group responsible for the Group’s Corporate Communication, Ethics and Compliance, Legal, External Relationships and Corporate Social Responsibility. Prior to that, he was Vodafone’s Governance Director for Africa where he was responsible for developing and driving Vodafone’s strategy for its investments in Africa as well as representing Vodafone as a key direct foreign investor in a number of African countries. Bob has more than 25 years of commercial experience working in the telecommunications sector.
Bob now lives in Kenya after relocating from South Africa where he has lived for the past 3 years and had spent the previous 3 years living and working in Tokyo as Vodafone’s Director, Consumer Marketing (Asia), overseeing the development and alignment of Vodafone’s Japanese business. His previous roles included Global Purchasing Director for Vodafone and Purchasing Director for the Dixons Stores Group, one of the UK’s largest electrical retailers.
Bob is also a trustee of Holding companies in Kenya and Tanzania for M-PESA, Vodafone’s pioneering money transfer service.

Dr. Bitange Ndemo
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information & Communications.
Dr. Bitange Ndemo is the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Communications.
Prior to his appointment as Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ndemo was a Senior Lecturer at the University of Nairobi’s Business School, where he taught entrepreneurship, management and research methods. Most of his research work centres on Small and Medium Enterprises in Kenya with emphasis on Social Enterprise.
Dr. Ndemo holds a PhD in Industrial Economics from the University of Sheffield in the UK, an MBA and bachelors degree in Finance and Accounting from the University of Minnesota. In the early 1990s, he was a Financial Systems Analyst at Medtronic Inc., a Fortune 500 company in the USA.
His current position entails policy formulation, and overseeing implementation of ICT projects. Dr. Ndemo has been involved in initiatives to lower the cost of accessing ICTs (connectivity, hardware and software) in Kenya and the region. His priority has been to connect East Africa to the rest of the World through the under- sea fibre optic cable. He is at the forefront of developing the demand side of ICTs by actively promoting Business Process Outsourcing in both urban and rural areas.
By virtue of his current position, Dr. Ndemo sits at the Boards of the Postal Corporation of Kenya, Telkom Kenya, Kenya Film Commission, and the Kenya ICT Board.

for investment, tourism and citizenship. She is a seasoned scholar with special interest and a distinguished career in marketing, brand and organisational development. She brings to Brand Kenya a successful career and accomplishments in academic, consulting and advisory across the private and public sector.
Ms Kimonye holds a BCom and MBA from the University of Nairobi. Concurrent with her responsibilities for leading Brand Kenya, she’s pursuing a PhD in Business Administration at the University of Nairobi, and is an active member of and participant in all matters related to marketing, branding and nation branding.

About the keynote/guest speaker:
Julius Kangogo Kipng'etich joined KWS as the Director in
December 2004. Before this, he was the Managing Director of Investment
Promotion Council. Kip, as he prefers to be called, is an ardent believer in continuous improvement. His tenure at the KWS has seen him transform the government parastatal into a serious business outfit.
In a bid to ensure World Class Parks, Kip has greatly improved the management of our parks, while giving conservation a strong scientific approach. All these measures have resulted to safer and more pleasurable experiences within our wildlife protected areas.
A Starehe Boys' Alumnus, Kip has over 17 years experience in Business Process Re-engineering and Change Management.
He was Director of the Student Welfare Authority, University of Nairobi , where he also lectured in the Department of Management Science.
He is a member of the Kenya Tourist Board, and serves on the boards of Kenya Forest Service, Equity Bank, Police Oversight Board, Moi Girls' Eldoret, Starehe Girls' School, Starehe Boys' Centre and the Kenya Red Cross Society. He is a leading member of the Mau Task Force and the Steering Committee for the Marketing of Kenya Stadia.
He is also the patron of AISEC - University of Nairobi .
Kip is the acclaimed winner of the Chief Executive Officer of the Year Award, COYA 2009 and has two Awards from the Head of State namely: EBS and CBS.
